Ilford Delta 100 is a modern emulsion from Ilford. This is the daylight-rated variant of their professional Delta range - created with finer grain to provide sharp black and white images with excellent contrast.
While this means the 35mm film is slightly less forgiving of wide exposure latitudes, the professional results when you nail the exposure will blow you away!
Ilford was founded in 1879 in the English town of the same name. They are B&W royalty in the photography industry thanks to their 140-year heritage and their support for photographers with chemicals and development as well as film. In the mid-20th Century they produced several well-regarded camera lines (including one given to Princess Elizabeth that was later stolen!) but today they are focused on producing the best films and development processes that they can.

I've not had lots of expereince in shooting black and white, but tried my hand with Ilford Delta 100. I was concerned that, when I was shooting, it was a bit dull and shots would be a bit 'washed out', but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it handled the mixed conditions. Would purchase it again for another go!

An excellent suprise
I got a roll of Ilford 100 as part of AW's mystery box subscription.
I had never tried it before because I honestly couldn't think what advantages Delta 100 would have over Kentmere 100 for the price.
I was wrong.
Delta 100 has excellent contrast, and its tones are seriously impressive. It's a gorgeous film that delivers rich, well-balanced, and satisfying results. If your shots don't have enough contrast or punch with Delta, that is on you. Messing up the exposure is the only way I've managed to ruin it.
The only downside is that this film needs light. But then it is ISO 100, so what else can you expect?
