Excellent choice for black & white

I was surprised how much I liked the results from my first roll of XP2, it is a great choice for black & white photography.

Ilford XP2 - useful for all occasions

I used this film for a friend's wedding. It was great for capturing pictures of the people at the wedding, as well as the surroundings, both indoors and outdoors. It was very easy to develop as well.

You can't go wrong with XP2

Shot two rolls of XP2: one at 400 ISO and one at 200 ISO. The negatives looked very different but scanned equally well. Super fine grain to almost grainless. Lovely and sharp. Incredibly forgiving. Incredibly flexible. I will use it again.

Sharp and smooth

This was my first time trying XP2 since returning to film and I was very impressed. On an overcast day perhaps there wasn't as much risk of losing detail into the shadows or highlights, but I really liked the range of tones it gave me.
Many of the other images on this roll were from inside a building that's still under construction and it seemed tolerant of my sometimes rather hasty or optimistic metering. Colleagues seemed to really like them as something distinctly different from our typical mobile phone shots.
Not the crunchy look of Tri-X, say, but for this assignment I was after detail and so I appreciated the fine grain. I don't develop my own, so the quicker and cheaper processing was definitely a bonus. I've bought two more and look forward to using them.
