Awesome, accurate and well built

I have been looking for a camera mount light meter for a while now. Ive purchased a few of the other well known brands but have never been completely happy - either they were not accurate or the build quality was so poor I didn't trust them. I ordered the KEKS KM02 based in strong reviews, but didn't expect much. This light meter hs proven to be better than the reviews. It hs changed my whole shooting flow. Mounted on my Hasselblad 500 CM it makes shooting so much easier - point, measure, shoot. No more digging out my (trusty) 308, walking over , taking a measurement walking back etc... In fact it now has a permanent home on that camera. Only problem is now I have to buy another one for my other cameras to share!! Absolutely recommend this to any photographer.

KEKS KM02 meter

I bought this meter to be a more convenient, carryable alternative to my Sekonik hand held meter, for those days when I just want to carry one body and one lens with no other accessories in pockets or bags. The KEKS is so small, you hardly notice it's there on top of the camera, yet it still gives the same reflected light results as my larger Sekonik. I'm a bit of a purist at heart, so I prefer mechanical cameras with minimal / no electronics. As a result the KEKS is a great addition when the 'Sunny 16' rule isn't good enough.

It’s “ok” but maybe a bit soon to call it

Just got my first roll of film back that I used the KEKSKM02 for and my experience to date is a bit mixed.
Operationally it’s good it’s easy to use and also fits with the aesthetic of an SLR.
As far as getting the exposures right it was a mixed bag. For the test roll I only used the readings I got from the KEKS. I had set it to, I prefer over exposed but I still got what I think are a bit under which I don’t think I’d have got if I just used Sunny 16.
I need to shoot some more rolls in different lighting conditions to say definitely what if anything it’s giving me.
Jury is out at the moment.

A very nice little piece of kit

A very nice little piece of kit. A small challenge to set up at first, using the five push buttons, so keep the little manual handy. But when you’ve got used to it it’s quick and easy to use and goes well with my Rollei 35, because the display is invertable for the hot shoe, which is on the bottom with these cameras. The display needs to be set to 100% brightness for use in sunny conditions, but the battery life seems good so no problem there.

The Perfect Hotshoe Lightmeter

When you own medium format rangefinder film camera, you quickly realise the added challenge of having to carry a separate handheld light meter.

Although these are accurate and force you to spend time checking zones and dynamic range levels in your shot, there can also degrade your creativity and spontaneity.

This light meter creates an average exposure reading that takes little more than 1-2 seconds, letting you focus on the subject, frame and composition. Critically it has generated accurately exposed negatives in a variety of conditions.

Of course when atypical and high contract scenes are present you may want to confirm exposure by checking with a hand held light meter. My experience to date is that this will be rare with the Keks 2 light meter.
