Please note that where the ratio of the print does not match the natural ratio of the film format then you will be able to adjust the crop after uploading your image.

You can see the effect of the crop on 7x5 and 8x6 in the below: compare the images versus the 'natural' 35mm ratio of 6x4 (the smallest size) and you'll see that the larger prints have a small amount shaved off the top and the bottom

Which is better: matte or gloss?

It depends on what you like! There is no right answer - some people naturally prefer one look over the other - but we can offer some simple guidance.

Matte delivers a natural and more classic photo print, and can reveal the subtle texture and feel of the underlying paper. It tends to have slightly less contrast than an equivalent print on gloss. It is ideal for photos where you are looking to retain the 'natural' look of the image as much as possible, and it also perfect for prints that you are going to frame behind glass or plastic.

Gloss adds an extra layer of shiny coating onto the base paper. This will boost the colour and contrast of the photo print, as well as adding a little extra protection against scratches and creases. However the shiny coating will also mean that fingerprints or scratches will show more obviously. It is perfect for prints that you are going to frame or display without a glass cover.

Also please note that matte is sometimes spelled matt, and gloss is sometimes called glossy. They are interchangeable terms (matt/matte and gloss/glossy) so don't worry!

How long will the prints last?

Our photo prints will last up to 100 years without losing colour or contrast* - much longer than social media accounts or iCloud passwords!

So turn your score into a perfect performance - and print your photos with Analogue Wonderland.

*100 years is guidance for photos kept dry and dark e.g. in a photo album. If placed in constant light, particularly direct sunlight, then your photo may start to fade earlier.

    Matte prints from Kodak Gold

I was really happy with the quality of the prints received after my Morocco trip, shot on Yashica Electro with Kodak Gold film. I went for a Matte finish which suited the landscape. The ease and speed of the process was also great.

    Pushing Colour Film...

Going back to July this year a friend of mine was performing on stage at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod. Naturally I wanted to take photos, so I chose a roll of CineStill 800T, and decided to push the film another two stops to ISO3200!

Now I'd read reviews that this film could be pushed and still give pretty reasonable results.

So the film was shot on the night, and I notified the Wonderlab that I had pushed this film an extra two stops, and popped in in the post.

The Wonder lab sent me an email the next day telling me that they had received my film, and that it was now in a queue, (when as you ask your lab to push process your film, it may take a little longer than normal - I have no problem with that, just so others are aware that what you want doing may take a little longer than normal).

Anywhoo, a week later I get the email telling me my scans were ready for me to view, and order prints if I wanted.
So I quickly logged in to view ... OMG! I was seriously impressed at how the photos had turned out on the scans! :D
Full marks to the team at Wonderlab!! :D

I ordered two sets of prints one for myself, and one for my friend who was performing that night, and a couple of weeks later they turned up, complete with my negatives. :D

Full marks to the team at Analogue Wonderland for everything they did for me on this. :D

But if I was to nit pick... The only thing that would have been nice... And this is more a suggestion than anything else, it would be nice if at some point in the future, when Wonderlab send you your prints and negatives back could they possible go in one of those paper/thin cardboard wallety/envelopes that you used to get your prints back in; back in the day? As I say, not a criticism ... More of a suggestion. :)

But I will definately be using the Wonderlab service again, no quibbles, at all. :)
