Description

Rollei RPX 25 is one of the most popular black and white 120 films due to its famous rich tones and shadow detail.

You will need bright sunlight or studio set-up to take advantage of it's low sensitivity but the results will be fantastically sharp and clear - especially in medium format.

As a company Rollei is most famous for it's cameras - particularly the iconic twin-lens Rolleiflex - but this German-based company founded in 1920 has also had a long history of making B&W films. Unfortunately the parent company didn't survive the digital revolution of the 90s/00s but the brand survives today under licence to AgfaPhoto - who continue to support emulsions old and new.

Five Stars Once Again

Another success with this film. Some loss of shadow detail but practice makes perfect. This sample negative came from a 1930s German Tessar lens, and was shot at about f16 in strong sunlight.

Nice clear film base

Excellent sharpness, Ordinal is a good developer for the 120 format.

Exceptionally Good

Exceptionally good at ISO 12. Sample image (only a rough scan from under the enlarger) was rated at ISO 12 and developed for 14 minutes in ordinal 1+100.
Users should be aware that this film builds up contrast quickly so very minimal agitation is advised or the highlights will blow out.
