Kentmere Pan 400 with Minolta Hi-Matic F
For the first time in 25 years I loaded a film into my vintage Minolta Hi-Matic F, which I must have had for around 40 years. I chose Kentmere Pan 400 to test the camera, as I knew I would have to adjust the ASA from box speed 400 down to 200 to allow for the different voltages in modern batteries for the camera's light meter and it's automatic exposure. Extremely pleased with the results, so a new roll of Kentmere Pan 400 has been loaded into the camera!

My favourite photo
This film has given me my favourite picture I’ve taken since starting film photography 5 years back. The nostalgic black and white grain allows a seemingly normal everyday moment in a pub garden between a close friend and my daughter to feel like a core memory that I never want to let go of. Love shooting with this - great for the price!

Whatever your skill level at film photography, be it beginner or pro, Kentmere 400 is a great all-rounder at a price we can all afford. It's a very forgiving film and has enough latitude and contrast to play with to keep most people happy. use with a Yellow Filter in an SLR or just shoot it as is with a compact and enjoy yourself. The trees were photographed with a Minolta Dynax 4 and yellow filter in bright sunshine. The alley was shot with a Hanimex 35RAS compact camera on a wet, dull day.

Brilliant film for the price :)
This is the cheapest film I’ve purchased from analogue wonderland and it’s one of my favourite black and white films. Definitely worth it if you want a solid film that won’t break the bank as it’s versatile with nice contrast. Great beginner film.

All round workhorse
Can't beat it for the price. I develop in DIY caffenol without problems, but for really great results I use Xtol (or the Bellini EcoDev version). Stands up against more expensive films (in my opinion).

Affordable but still usable !
Although Kentmere 400 is on the cheaper end of film stocks, and one of the cheapest at AW it still performs well for most shooters especially in the British 'sun' lol.
It can come out quite mid tonal wise at times with nice grey tones throughout but it can still have higher contrast if you aim to do so. Its grain is also pretty run of the mill medium with it not being super clean nor dense in my experience.
With it being 400 it does pretty well in lower light but I wouldn't recommend shooting it at night at all, yet with all that said its a well developed film stock and with that lower price per roll it makes it good to get shots off without draining your bank and one of my favourite to experiment with outside fomopan 100.
(the images have been compressed quite heavily)

Nice Film
I had not used this film before. I quite like it although it is quite contrast but that suites my style of photography
I wasn't expecting too much from this film seeing as it's at the budget end but was very pleasantly surprised by the results. It suits the gloomy Scottish light very well and I will definitely be shooting a lot more of it in the future!!

I got some Kentmere 400 as an extra as part of an order and was really happy with the results. I like a 400 speed for everyday all-rounder photos, and I was very impressed with how these turned out!
