Mixed results but will buy again

Bought 2 rolls of 100 ISO (wanted 400 but out of stock) to test with a recently acquired Yashica 44. Both rolls had development issues which may or may not be down to my error as I processed them myself. I suspect the film needs to be treated with greater care than I have been showing it: It doesn’t seem as robust as say Hp5 or Kentmere. That said, some of the shots I got were some of my favourites of the year so far. So I’ll try Rera Pan again if I can get a discount on the film!!

For a Kodak 44a Brownie camera

When watching a documentary about the insanely talented industrial designer Sir Kenneth Grange, I hadn't appreciated he had done some design for Kodak. I managed to get a decent Brownie 44a for next to nothing and then went on the hunt for some 127 film. Thankfully AW came up trumps again, but I did pay more for one roll than the camera cost! It's a nice film, with sharp grain and processed well in Ilfosol3. The only issue being the plastic lens in the camera hasn't really shown the film off to its best advantage. I did come away with a nice double exposure, however.

Lovely Film

I found this film difficult to load into the camera (Kodak Vest Pocket) but I put that down to the camera.

The images produced are lovely and crisp with great contrast as you'll see in my sample shots. Unfortunately my camera needs a little bit of work as thats what ruined my images.

127 Experience

127 roll arrived rapidly and well packaged complete with instructions and a paid-for return slip for processing. This was great except for the fact that ....... AW does not yet process 127! So, I'm using another provider and, when they're done, we'll see how good the film was, how good my use of a very old Kodak Vest Camera was, and, indeed how well the 100-year-old camera is working. Suggestion - don't include a processing return pack with 127 rolls, just add a slip that says you don't process this size.

I will review this as and when I get round to using it.
