Kodak - properly known as Kodak Eastman - was founded in America in 1888 and dominated the "Western" world of photography for the next 100 years, constantly in fierce rivalry with the Japanese Fuji. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. A late attempt to win in the compact market was hit by the rise of mobile photography and bankruptcy followed in 2012. Fortunately the photography business has survived under the Kodak Alaris name - based in Hertfordshire, England - and they have delighted the analogue industry by pledging continued support for film production and the promise of bringing back old favourite emulsions.

A brilliant budget stock - Kodak with Fuji Greens?
Primate disappeared for a few years and I thought my chance to try it had gone forever. However, it’s come back alive and kicking and so it was great to be able to get out and shoot some this summer. Some sample photos I had seen before had strange colour balance and this did carry over to some of my photos with a green hue quite evident. There were still strong blues and grain was sharp. I’m not sure I prefer this to Gold or Ultra Max, but for scenes with a lot of green I think this does perform better. And when it’s £9 a roll it certainly warrants giving it a go!

Gorgeous colours!
I've used this film both under sunny and overcast situations with different cameras and the results are just beautiful!
The colour renditions are absolutely gorgeous to my taste and the grain is super fine.
Excellent value for money

Colourful Results
A nice film. Probably not the finest grain for a slower film but perfectly acceptable in my opinion. I'll consider get some more for the brighter days especially as it's not too expensive.
I shot three roils of pro Image 100 during the summer of 2024. It's a shame i could only get out on overcast days, but Pro Image 100 handled it beautifully.

Reliable colour film fits between Portra and Gold.
It's slightly cooler than Gold, and as reliable as Portra. Shadows really have plenty of detail, and highlights are sensible. It's a good film for scanning. Sunny day film.
