Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: David Southard @wildarena

Description: We hope our Inverness Photo walk, will be a friendly and fun event for anyone interested in analogue photography!

From seasoned enthusiasts to absolutely beginners, there is always something great about meeting like-minded folk and talking about photography.

After meeting up at Midday, we will gently head out on a meander along the river Ness, past the Cathedral, looking for anything that catches our eye and offers a picture opportunity. We’ll then cross over Ness Bridge before doing a loop around the very photogenic Inverness Castle. There should be lots of interesting things to shoot and the guide will be there to help and advise about settings and techniques to capture some awesome shots.

We can then check out some of the alleys and smaller streets, before returning to the river and crossing over Greig Street Bridge. Another walk along the Ness before arriving back at out start point around 4pm.

For those that want to ask any questions, we can chat over a tea/coffee back at Eden Court or the nearby riverside Ness Walk Kiosk!

We want this event to create a chance to meet fellow photographers, take some cool shots, hopefully learn some things and above all be a fun afternoon out – we hope you join us!

Walking distance: 2-4km

Accessibility comments: The Route will be all outside on made-up paths or pavements. Whilst we may visit stepped streets, it should be possible to navigate around these with a short detour.

We will do our best to accommodate everyone, but if you have any concerns about the suitability of this event, just e-mail us at info@wildarena.com.

📍 North

Meeting location: Amble Beach Huts. what3words: ///losing.fells.functions

Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: Jonny Wolfe-Slater @Wolfeslater

Description: Starting at the colourful beach huts our walk will take in the sea views from Amble South Pier with it light, overlooking Coquet island. We'll then head to the quayside with its fish markets and onto the marina and Coquet Yacht club. Leaving Amble we'll follow the River Coquet up Beal bank, passing several bird themed sculptures on the Amble Sculpture trail.

At the top of Beal bank we'll walk around the outside of Warkworth Castle (you couldn't do a photowalk in Northumberland without a castle!) And then drop down to the Medieval bridge where we'll finish the walk, although I would encourage everyone to gather in the Masons Arms afterwards for a friendly debrief.

Walking distance: 4km (2.5 miles)

Accessibility comments: The walk will be mainly on paved paths, although some parts use grass paths, there are some cobbles in Warkworth at the bridge , and Amble Pier is wooden slats.

However, there are alternative routes that bypass all of these if they are an issue. There is a short climb up to Warkworth as the castle sits on high ground, and then down again to the bridge.

On sunny days this area can get quite popular so there may be some crowds, but mainly around Amble quayside and in Warkworth centre.

Amble is served by the X18 bus route which runs from Newcastle to Berwick. It also stops in Warkworth for those who want to bus back to the start. My intention is to park at the end and walk to the start and I would be happy to give anyone a lift back to Amble. There are several car parks in Amble near the start.

Alternative routes on pavements are available to bypass any non paved paths. It is all outside, and freely accessible so service animals are welcome.

For photographers, the park is a visual playground of shifting textures and eras. You can frame the grand symmetry of the Italian Gardens and the stoic Medici Lions, then pivot to the energy and grit of the skate park. Whether you’re capturing the 85-foot Cocker Clock Tower or the quiet intimacy of the nature trails, every corner offers a fresh spark for your lens.

We will meet outside the cafe, so everyone can get acquainted, before setting off and exploring the park with our cameras. Most of the park has decent paths, but please do prepare for uneven areas around the nature trails.

Walking distance: 4km

Accessibility comments: Parking and Access - Designated accessible car parking is available near the cafe

Walking distance: 5.5km

Accessibility comments: Service animals are welcome. Most of the walk is outside. There are some gentle but unavoidable steps on the route. Some uneven footpaths and parts of the way are hilly but not too strenuous.

We'll start with a look inside the cathedral (subject to access on the day), where you'll find dramatic architecture, interesting details, and plenty of opportunities to play with light and shadow.

From there we'll stop by Chetham's Library, one of the city's oldest and most atmospheric buildings, before making our way past The Printworks and into the heart of the Northern Quarter.

As we weave through the streets towards Stevenson Square, expect everything from street art and independent shopfronts to candid street scenes and hidden details that are easy to miss when you're rushing through the city.

We'll then leave the crowds behind and head towards Piccadilly Basin, following the Rochdale Canal towpath towards New Islington Marina. This stretch offers a completely different side of Manchester, with calm waters, reflections, old industrial buildings, and plenty of space to slow down and compose your shots.

We'll finish in Ancoats, where historic mills, red-brick warehouses, and the mix of old and new Manchester make for a fitting end to the walk.

Walking distance: 3km

Accessibility comments: Please be aware that this route includes some accessibility considerations. There are stairs at certain points along the walk, particularly around Piccadilly Basin, and some sections of the Rochdale Canal towpath can be narrow, uneven, and cobbled underfoot.

Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: Rebecca Rowan @MindfulPhotographyUK

Description: Starting at Rural Arts, we’ll begin with a focus on slowing down and taking notice as we head out on a gentle, unhurried walk through Thirsk.

Our route will take us towards Thirsk Parish Church on Kirkgate (with time to capture exterior photographs, depending on services), passing the striking Thirsk Sculpture Hall, characterful doorways, and the Quaker Hall along the way.

We’ll then wander back via the riverside, returning through Thirsk’s bustling Market Place.

For those who would like a little extra themed guidance, there will be an optional photo scavenger hunt to gently support noticing and creativity.

We’ll finish back at Rural Arts, where you’re welcome to treat yourself to a tea or coffee (café closes at 2pm).

Walking distance: 1.5 miles

Accessibility comments: Cobbles in marketplace, steps to church, rough ground via riverside would suggest sensible footwear. The marketplace can get crowded and an alternative route can be suggested if required.

Suitable for people using walkers or wheelchairs as church can be viewed from road, service dogs permitted, support with neurodiversity and anxiety are our specialism.

📍 Midlands

Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: Alex Davidson @raviolicubed & www.the3rs.uk

Description: Birmingham is one of the busiest places in the UK, but just a few steps outside the city centre are some great opportunities for city based photography - whether its the old canals, the street art in Digbeth or abandoned buildings, there's definitely some interesting sights to photograph away from the bustle of the city.

The walk aims to cover a bit of everything - street photography opportunities on the way to destinations, a trip down some of the canals and a stop by the street art in Digbeth. The exact route is flexible and will be decided by what people want from their day and whether we have any film left or not! We're hopefully going to try and find something different to the stereotypical big city centre walk.

Walking distance: 3-4km

Accessibility comments: There will be staircases, uneven surfaces and narrow paths at some sections of the walk. Birmingham is extremely crowded on a Saturday and avoiding these will be difficult, although we do aim to get away from the most concentrated crowds.

Accessibility comments: No accessibility concerns, it is an outside area so service animals are welcome.

Meeting location: Linear Park, Coventry. what3words: ///funny.slimy.muddy

Meeting time: 8pm

Photowalk leader: Jamie Gray @cov.entry

Description: We will meet at the new Linear Park, just opposite the Tyre Garage on Abbotts Lane. From there we will head to Belgrade Plaza, and into the city centre where the evening will unfold.

The golden hour and blue hour light will play a big factor in this walk as the other walks around the country are at noon. Please be aware light levels will fall off as the walk progresses (which can be a good thing!) so plan to bring a flash, or mini tripod, or embrace the soft blur of slow shutter speeds.

Walking distance: 4km

We'll finish in Leicester's vibrant Cultural Quarter, where you can unwind and enjoy a well-earned drink with fellow photographers.

Walking distance: 5-6km

Accessibility comments: There's stairs down into Lo-Fi basement, but we can arrange to meet in the cafe of the church if needed.

Town can be quite busy on a Saturday, but once out the main centre it's fairly quiet.

There might be some rough surfaces, such as cobbles, grass and bridges.

Weather is a bit unpredictable at the minute, so places with shelter on the route can be factored in.

Meeting location: Christchurch Gardens, Top of Parade, Leamington. what3words: ///fires.edges.banana

Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: Matt Shillito @mattshill

Description: A saunter down the historic Parade in the centre of Leamington, taking a detour through the park and to the river at Jephson Gardens, finishing up via the vibrant railway arches to the canal and the industrial buildings of Old Town.

Any refreshment stops will have outside space. People may wish to go on the grass at the park but there are paved paths throughout. We can adjust the route to to avoid the canal bridge as required.

Meeting location: what3words: ///turkey.foal.puppy

Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: Khandie Rees @khandiephoto & www.KhandiePhotography.com

Description: Town Centre Photowalk - Architecture, Street & Storytelling

We’ll start at the iconic Northampton Guildhall which is a proper statement building. Think detail shots, framing, and how to handle big, imposing architecture without it feeling flat.

From there, we’ll head up St Giles’ Street which happens to be one of the more characterful parts of town. This is where we start looking at colour, shopfronts, layering, and those easy-to-miss moments that separate a quick snap from something more considered.

We’ll cut through the quieter churchyard of church there, giving you a completely different pace. It’s a good chance to reset, look at light, shadow, and more subtle compositions before stepping back into the chaos. Graves and squirrels to capture perhaps?

Then it’s down Abington Street which is fully pedestrianised and ideal for street photography. Movement, timing, people, reactions… the stuff you can’t control, but can get better at spotting.

We’ll land in the Market Square where everything comes together: architecture, people, unpredictability, before taking time to shoot All Saints Church from the front, working on symmetry, scale, and strong compositions. It's courtyard makes for an interesting place to photograph people too.

From there, we’ll head out towards Beckets Park to slow things right down. The canal, open space, and university surroundings give us a completely different shooting style: more relaxed, more observational.

We’ll finish up at a nearby coffee spot. Cameras down, proper chat, and probably a bit of honest talk about what’s working (and what’s not).

Walking distance: 3.5km

Accessibility comments: Walk will contain uneven pavements, cobbles and is on a busy Saturday. Dogs welcome! Its outdoors. Plenty of rest spots. Toilets available at the shopping centre midpoint.

Meeting location: Rugby Library & Art Gallery entrance. what3words: ///member.wicked.rides

Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: Elizabeth Shepherd @the_photo_mum

Description: Architecture of Rugby - starting at Rugby Library and Art Gallery, we will walk around the town centre and surrounding areas.

Look up in Rugby and you will find a surprising selection of interesting buildings. A mix of street photography and architecture in a historic town, where the game was invented!

Walking distance: 3km-5km

Accessibility comments: Stairs inside the Clock tower however there is a lift. Normal streets otherwise - service animals welcome.

Meeting location: The Square, Shrewsbury, SY1 1LH

Meeting time: 12pm

Photowalk leader: Sophie Foxley @shrewsbury_film_photo_club

Description: We'll be starting at The Square in Shrewsbury taking in the sights of The Old Market Hall, stopping at the award winning Indoor Markethall, walking alongside Shrewsbury school for fantastic views over the town and finishing at the historic Shrewsbury Castle.

Walking distance: 4.5km

Accessibility comments: A range of terrain with cobbled roads, unpaved footpaths (could be slightly muddy weather dependant), inclines, potential steps. Wear sturdy footwear.

Adjustments may be made to the route if needed. Aside from the inside of the markethall the route is suitable for dogs.

Meeting location: Wells Harbour Office. what3words: ///workbench.outcasts.faced

Meeting time: 10am

Photowalk leader: Chris Bishop

Description: We can start with a look at the waterfront with its iconic Lifeboat Horse sculpture as the tide goes out, before we wander along the quay towards Tugboat Yard, taking in the sights as we go.

We'll have the sun over our backs doing that, with hopefully all the light we need to show off the scene on lovely Kodak Ultramax.

Unless that rains, obviously. In which case, we'll mainly be doing pictures of what Wells looks like during a mild spell of early-summer precipitation sparked by a low-pressure North Sea weather system.

CHIP TIME - MIND THEM GULLS..

That'll probably be well getting on for lunch by the time we've done all that, so if tums and rumbling it might be time for that much-loved Wells ritual of chips by the harbour.

Two rival outlets nestle side-by-side beside the quay. So will it be French's - or Plattens..?

Just mind the seagulls, which like their chips too. But hold you on there. For while some are stuffed so full of the nation's staple fried potato snack they can barely fly, there's a picture to be had - if they don't have your fingers first.

We can then have a wander up Staithe Street, with its colourful array of independent shops for a nose and a bit of street photography before we finish off back at the starting point to hand in our films.

CAMERAS AND STUFF

The great thing about seaside towns is you can get some great pictures on whatever you've got, so get set to fill your boots whether you're armed with a point-and-shoot or a classy SLR set-up with a lens or three.

And the great thing about shooting Wells is the light's with you all the way shooting the harbour from late morning until the middle of the afternoon, by which time you'll probably have either got bored of me and cleared off or found a pub to hide in.

I wouldn't bother with a tripod, as it can get quite busy around the quayside. Plus on a 400 film, you probably won't need one in any case.

CLOTHES AND STUFF

I suggest you wear strong shoes or boots along with thick socks as we'll be on our toes for quite a bit.

A bottle of water would also be a good idea, along with sun cream just in case that gets out sunny and maybe a hat which will also help to keep the rain off your loaf if that doesn't.

Bring change because not all car parks accept cards and phone signal can be poor up on the Norfolk coast, so you may not be able to pay that way either.

Walking distance: 3km-4km (1.8-2.4 miles)

Accessibility comments: Not sure about service animals as it's by a harbour.

📍 South / South East

Meeting location: what3words: ///facing.spring.scare

Meeting time: 3pm

Photowalk leader: Joshua Redfearn @josh_redfearn & https://joshuadylanredfearn.com/

Description: We'll start at POST in Industrial House by Hove Station, kicking off in the scruffy industrial backstreets around Conway Street- loading bays, signage, railway edges- with the new Moda Hove Central towers looming overhead for some hard architectural contrast right out of the gate. From there we'll cross the tracks and wind through residential Hove along Fonthill, Denmark Villas and Cromwell Road, settling into the rhythm of Victorian terraces and bay windows, before cutting into St Ann's Well Gardens for a green breather under the trees as well as a coffee/loo regroup in the park.

Out through handsome Regency Montpelier and up to Seven Dials, then we drop south past Brighton Station into North Laine- painted shopfronts, vintage stores, characters- and finally thread through the tight alleys of the South Lanes to finish with pints at The Eagle. Around 3.5 miles, expect 3-4 hours with a group of 35mm shooters, and the whole walk arcs from hard industrial through residential calm to green softness and ends in dense old-town texture, which makes for a genuinely varied roll of film.

Walking distance: 5.6km

Accessibility comments: Outside route, so service animals are welcome throughout. Happy to adjust pace, take extra breaks, or skip the cobbled Lanes section if needed — just let us know in advance or on the day. Bail-out points at Hove and Brighton stations if you need to drop off early.

Route is 5.6km over 3-4 hours. Mostly flat with one gentle uphill to Seven Dials. Cobbles in the South Lanes. Gets busy on weekends. Toilets at St. Anne's Wells Park (mid-walk) and The Eagle (end). Easy to bail at Hove or Brighton stations.

Meeting time: 2pm

Photowalk leader: Jumi Popoola @jumi___p @cime.lab

Description: Join photographer and visual storyteller Jumi Popoola for an analogue photography walk through Brixton and Clapham, exploring the people, places and everyday moments that shape South London.

Rather than focusing solely on technique or landmarks, this walk invites participants to slow down, observe closely and use film photography as a tool for storytelling. Together we’ll explore bustling markets, independent businesses, community spaces, architecture and street life, considering what makes a place feel lived-in, connected and meaningful.

Along the route we’ll visit highlights including Electric Avenue, Brixton Market, Brixton Village, Windrush Square and Clapham Common, with opportunities to photograph everything from vibrant street scenes and environmental portraits to quieter details that often go unnoticed.

Participants will also be invited to respond to a simple creative prompt:

“Photograph something that makes this place feel welcoming, familiar or shared.”

Perfect for photographers interested in documentary photography, visual storytelling and connecting more deeply with both their surroundings and fellow film photographers.

Walking distance: 5km (3 miles)

Accessibility comments: This walk is approximately 5km and takes place on public pavements, pedestrian routes and open public spaces. The pace will be relaxed, with regular stops for photography, discussion and rest.

Participants are welcome to bring support workers, signers, mobility aids or anything else that helps them participate comfortably. Please send a email to Jumi via imisibyjumip@gmail.com to let us know.
There will be opportunities to sit and take breaks during the walk, and attendees are welcome to engage in a way that works best for them.

Please note that Brixton Market and some sections of the route can become busy and crowded on weekends, and there is a gradual incline along parts of Brixton Hill. If you have specific access requirements or would like to discuss the route in advance, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to support you.

Crowds & sensory load: Brixton Market can be noisy, busy and visually stimulating.
• Standing time: Some people will find standing for photo discussions more challenging than the walking.
• Brixton Hill incline (alternative route considered): Not steep, but noticeable for people with knee, hip, fatigue or chronic pain conditions.
• Weather exposure: Much of the route is outdoors with limited shelter.
• BSL/signers: will have to be mindful to stop walking when giving instructions and gather people into a semicircle where possible.
• Neurodivergent attendees: The optional creative prompt gives structure to the walk helping attendees get grounded, without forcing interaction. There will also be opportunities to wonder, breakaway to decompress and adapt the walk in a way that’s meaningful and accessible where possible.

Participants are welcome to bring support workers, signers, mobility aids or anything else that helps them participate comfortably. There will be opportunities to sit and take breaks during the walk, and attendees are welcome to engage in a way that works best for them.
