Fantastic colours for landscape and travel photography

I decided to take a few rolls to the Canadian Rockies during the summer, and as a first time user, the results did not disappoint.

The fine grain and fantastic colour rendition was particularly pleasing, especially for the blues and greens of the Canadian landscape, with good colour accuracy and high saturation.

Being a 100 speed film, you obviously need plenty of light, which wasn't a problem on this trip, but something to bear in mind dependent on how/where you use this.

Will definitely buy again for my next trip!

Beautiful colour rendition

Beautiful colour rendition. Amoung my favourite of films for anything from landscape to architecture. Just works well if you have the light to use it.

Ektar 100

My first use of Ektar 100 was in Montenegro. The grain was very fine, the colours were saturated which worked well on landscapes, bringing out red a bit in the brown and shots with the sea giving a nicer blue. I didnt find it as forgiving as some other film stocks if I got the exposure slightly wrong. Some portraits turned out nice where the light was more of a cooler kelvin, so skin tones didnt appear too red.

Colour, colour, colour

Ektar is probably the next best thing in colour after colour positive. It needs to be treated right to get good results and can be a bit of a diva but when it works it really pops. When you know you are going to have blue skies and lots of colourful subjects, Ektar is what I reach for.

Almost digital

Having returned this year to film photography and having mostly shot Gold and Ultramax I gave this a go. In a way it’s remarkable with fine grain and sharp detail. The colours are saturated, a little bit unreal in some circumstances and I find it very contrasty in harsh light. That said I was very impressed and at average magnification could almost pass as digital. And that is the problem for me! If I want digital then I would shoot digital! I have really fallen for the mooted saturation and grainy vintage look of Ultramax and its has of course a much more versatile speed rating. I’m using a canon A1 and a selection of primes and that shows what Ektar is capable of and impressive as it is I will stick to Ultramax for the moment.

Punchy Colours

Great for bringing out colours in landscape shots. Can be used for other work like portraits but I found the skin tones were very warm, in summer sun. Quite pricy and needs plenty of light. Would recommend it more for 120.

Kodak Ektar 100

Kodak Ektar 100 is a great film for situations where low grain, sharpness and vivid saturation are important. This film favours accurate exposure, with far less latitude than consumer film stocks, and its relatively low ISO of 100 makes it less suited to low light situations. Surprisingly cool tones in cloudy lighting conditions, with overall colour and contrast more closely resembling slide film. In the right light, with accurate metering, Ektar 100 is a superb film.

Sunmer Superstar!

A recent trip to Pisa with the brightest backgrounds & clearest detail demands only Ektar 100!
So capable in bright situations of capturing your memories in a way that only Ektar can.
The depth of detail it captures in colab with your standard 50mm lens is just fab.
Trust it to bring you smiles!

Good for landscapes, not the best for portraits.

A lovely film for saturation. Landscapes and nature photography benefit greatly from it. Not so sure about people photography though. Skin tones tend to get a little over saturated.

Wonderful colours

So much colour! Scans practically jumped off the screen (thanks AW), but without appearing artificial. Spring flowers, blue skies, a blue vintage car and lush yellow and green fields all showed themselves off wonderfully. Beautifully fine-grained too, as I had expected.
This was only my second roll of Ektar and I didn't give the first one the best opportunities, but I'm certainly smitten now.

Best film for a sunny day

I would use this film all the time in summer if it wasn’t on the pricey side. Fine grain, amazing colours (particularly enhances reds), surprisingly worked well for portraits (no red skin tones), versatile despite being 100 ISO, as worked well for landscape/portraits/street shots. Can’t wait to use it again
