Lovely colours

Decided to use a more expensive stock for a trip to New York and it was a fun roll to experiment with! The photos in the sun came out really nice.

Great all rounder

Lovely stock that produces great images in most lighting situations. If it wasn't so expensive I'd definitely be making this my go-to stock.

Portra 400 completes wedding.

This was the film I chose for my first wedding and it didn’t disappoint. It handled everything from bright moments to overcast skies really well, the colours are beautiful, and the skin tones are exactly what I was hoping for. Easy to see why it’s the professional level and used so much.

Flexible, Forgiving - The gold standard (that's not gold)

Love Portra 400 for the good skin tones in all sorts of lighting, its flexibility and the fact that you can abuse it a bit and still get a good photo. It's just a good solid film with nice grain structure.

The GOAT for shooting people at golden hour

If you need a bit more exposure latitude than UltraMax but still want 400 speed or if you don't want the baked in colour profile of the golden hued consumer grade Kodaks or the cooler toned Fujicolours then this is your guy. Especially, as everyone says, if you're shooting people, it does reproduce lovely, creamy skin tones. Less saturated than some other stocks for sure which is lovely for those skin tones but maybe not punchy enough for some situations, depends on the look you want. Overall excellent, just wish it wasn't quite so pricey!

A really beautiful film

My first time shooting portra 400 and I only wish I could afford to shoot it all the time. The colours are simply beautiful and true to life, the skin tones are perfect and even though I shot it on an olympus af 10 super, the results were just astounding from a basic point and shoot. I shot the first roll on a bright sunny day and there were no issues with highlights and contrast. I would shoot it all the time, if I won the lottery, or a rich aunt I never knew I had left me a fortune in her will!!!

Beautiful tones

I LOVE Kodak Portra 400 for it's clean skin tones and flex in lower light. It's going to be my go to film stock for this season (and maybe forever!)

Photographing an Icon

Used a newly acquired Pentax Super A to photograph Bluebird K7 at Coniston. I have not photographed with a 35mm Pentax since the late 80's, so I messed up the results. Of the images that did work, I was very happy with the different rendering the Pentax gave vs my Canon.
