Lomography has been at the forefront of the analogue revolution for decades. Starting in 1992 with some Viennese students falling in love with the aesthetic of a particular Soviet camera (the iconic LC-A) - they founded a movement and a company that would introduce a new generation to the joys of plastic cameras and experimental film. Periodically innovating new cameras for existing formats - and sometimes bringing back formats specially for their cameras! - they are vibrant and creative

Very interesting film!

Second time using Lomopurple and it gets better the more I use it. Can have a lot of fun with colours altering the iso settings and it has lively definition. My favourite creative film, especially for summer!

Unpredictable and a little bit crazy

I was longing to try this film out, I took a bit of a gamble on when I used it, but I got some interesting results. I found that the best results came from people and buildings metered around the middle of the range ~ISO 200. I found that this film performed poorly on landscapes, which ended up looking like a grainy mush. The film worked best when there was a prominent subject with plant life around. The film also seems to be OK for street photography, giving some interesting desaturated results.

A couple of the scans came out with blacks that were unpleasantly green - This could be countered by adjusting the colour balance, but that often gave an overpowering all-over purple cast.

I would also say that with this film in particular there is a huge scope for adjusting things in post, certainly having a quick play with the scans showed that there were things which could be done.

Beautiful results

I'm still quite a novice when it comes to exploring analogue as an artist and i wasnt sure what to expect from this film. The results were absolutely stunning with a dream like quality. I actually shot this i early spring and only managed to develop it yesterday. I will definitely buy this again with a project in mind.

Love this in Cities

shot one at Tredegar park ; Wales. Other 4 in Glasgow streets on a Canon AE-1p at 200 ISO. My personal favourite is photo (3) at Gallowgate/Glasgow Cross with the pigeon flying across. Gritty and atmospheric this film really gives cityscapes a nice feel. Like the metropolis I'd be tempted to try 100 ISO to see how the colour shift varies based on exposure level.

Enjoy.

Shifty

Before shooting LomoPurple I would definitely suggest watching Paul's youtube video on how the film behaves while exposed differently. Load the film then, play with your exposures and enjoy the trip :)
