Love this lab box

Lab box and d96 monobath take the mystery out of the processing of film - so simple. Think I'll be using this a lot from now on as I learn to refine doing it all myself.

Wonderfully easy to use!

My usual experience of developing film at home leaves me stressed and grumpy, all that fumbling around with hands getting hotter and hotter in a dark bag! Nothing like that with the lab-box. Easy and stress free, I reckon my first film was completed in 30 minutes from start-to-finish. Would definitely recommend the lab-box for anyone wanting to process one film at a time. Really very pleased.

Great after you get used to it

It can be a bit fiddly at first, and your first roll won't come out great, but after some practice its fantastic! Would definitely recommend!

Photos in under 10 mins!

Firstly I got a 1st class service from the guys at Analogue Wonderland! So big shout out to them! And secondly what can I say about the Ars Imago Lab-Box! It is simply a great bit of kit! So easy to use and your film is developed in under 10 mins, no messing around with dark bags or turning the toilet into a darkroom it is simply from camera to box - job done! Also, I find using the Ars Imago A + B Monobath helps simplify the process! Best Buy in ages!

This is a fantastic piece of kit!! Having never developed a film before, and spent a few hours going over YouTube options on general film development and specifically the Lab-Box, plus using Ilford Simplicity and Ilford films, it is so easy to use and delivers excellent results. Now to start using over developer options and films .....

I have a manual-wind 35mm SLR. Are there any tips for making sure the film leader doesn't disappear back inside the cassette when rewinding it?

Analogue Wonderland

Keep your ear close to the back of the camera when rewinding and you'll hear a soft 'click' when the end disengages from the winding spool. At the same moment you'll feel the tension drop with the rewind wheel. If you go slowly and carefully it can't be missed!
And even if you do - a small investment into a film retriever is very worthwhile: https://analoguewonderland.co.uk/products/ap-film-retriever-film-iso

How do you control temperature with this? And is it possible to develop E6 in it?

Analogue Wonderland

Heya - no you can't control temperature with it so personally I'd avoid E6. Colour C-41 and B&W are super easy though :-)

When your developed film reel comes out of the Lab box ,what is the next step with putting the reels into actual photos

Analogue Wonderland

The most common next step is to scan the negatives to create a digital file. There are many ways to scan - from using a phone to buying a specialist scanner. I'd recommend looking through the articles here for more inspiration: https://www.35mmc.com/?s=scanning

One of the simplest methods is using a pixl-latr: https://pixl-latr.com/

Good morning! Really dumb question but do the lab boxes develop colour films?

Best wishes, Neil

Analogue Wonderland

Not dumb at all!
Yes it can develop colour films - but you'll need the colour chemicals to do so :-)
Any other questions about home dev just drop us an email or give us a call and we can talk you through it!

Hi,

I wanted to ask about the chemicals necessary to use with the lab box and whether they are inclusive or separate?

Thanks,

Joost

Analogue Wonderland

Hey! You use your normal developing chemicals - black and white, C-41 etc - just like with regular developing! They aren't included but if you're new to it then I'd start with this pack: https://analoguewonderland.co.uk/collections/film-developer-kits-and-chemicals/products/ilford-simplicity-starter-pack-b-w-developing-kit

Thank you - Paul
