Description

The Lomography ActionSampler camera is a multilens analogue beast that takes 35mm pictures sliced in four sequential panels. Four photos captured within a second of time with every press of the shutter and spaced perfectly onto the same 35mm frame.

The ActionSampler comes in a clear camera case so you get to see the inner workings and springs!

No focusing, fixed aperture, no shutter-speed, simple technology and lightweight.

Paul took an ActionSampler on a rollercoaster trip of Florida a few years ago and enjoyed trying to capture the moment at the top of a drop!

Fun to experiment with

This camera was really fun and simple to use, especially for pictures with moving subjects (obviously). The fixed shutter speed and aperture mean you should probably pick a slightly slower film if you're planning on shooting indoors. It is also (in my experience) quite easy to accidentally cover one of the lenses with your fingers while you're holding the camera so do watch out for that. And, of course, having four smaller photographs per shot will slightly reduce photo quality when you try to enlarge them but in my opinion these are all minor things. Overall, the camera is fun and easy to use and I really liked it.

Good in theory but not in practice

I’ll start off by saying that the service was amazing, quick delivery and a nice surprise of candy canes, presumably as it was Christmas. The camera itself was fun to use, a little confusing but fun. I developed the film myself along with two other rolls from another camera (B/W) and while the other two came out perfectly, the roll from the action sampler only had 3 barely visible photos. Disappointing but I’ll have to try with a different ISO film some time.
