Ilford was founded in 1879 in the English town of the same name. They are B&W royalty in the photography industry thanks to their 140-year heritage and their support for photographers with chemicals and development as well as film. In the mid-20th Century they produced several well-regarded camera lines (including one given to Princess Elizabeth that was later stolen!) but today they are focused on producing the best films and development processes that they can.

I bought this film so I could participate in a film and print developing course. My first time developing film I got great results 🎉 I used this film before and will continue to buy it.
My all time favourite B&W film. Great contrast and detail which gives a very versatile film for all subjects. Adding a colour filter really helps to bring out sky tones. Easy to home process and scan as the negatives have lovely contrast.
I used this film unmetered using sunny 16 in my Grandad's Ihagee Exa camera - it was the first time it had been used in probably 50 years (it was was built in 1958 and still worked perfectly!). The film is very nice, good and contrasty with some grain but not too much. Worked well in the Exa on a cloudy day, despite the slow speed. Would buy again.

FP4 keeps on troshin' up the harbour
People love this film because it's just kept on troshin'.
I mean how old is it now..? Older than my cameras or even me for starters - let alone the Wondies*.
I bracketed the boat in the creek up Thornham in Norfolk - despite my aversion to wasting my hard-earned beer tokens on film.
I wasn't sure I believed what the camera was telling me as the light was bouncing about off the mud and the water like a box of frogs as the sun nipped and tucked with the clouds.
But when I got it wondified, this one just leapt out. Nice tones, with minimal tweaks.
Two crops of the same frame shot on a Nikon FM2 and a nifty fifty I probably don't use as often as I should.
