Kodak Summer Competition 2025: The Top 20 Winners!

By Amy Farrer

There’s just nothing like capturing your summer memories on film and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your adventures come to life as they embarked on their journey through our lab. Every year we host our seasonal Kodak photo competitions - and summer 2025 saw the underrated but brilliant Kodak Pro Image 100 35mm film (current stock expires 01/26) put to test by hundreds of our talented community of analogue photographers. We had the pleasure of inviting Andy Church from Kodak Alaris to Analogue Wonderland HQ once again to share his top 20 favourite submissions to this year's competition. So, grab a cuppa and watch our YouTube video below (or read on!) to find out his top picks and the winner, who’ll be getting their hands on a year’s supply of film and processing… 👀

Kodak Pro Image is a bit of a dark horse as Kodak colour films go - often overlooked compared to best-sellers Gold, UltraMax and ColorPlus. But with professional-grade quality (at an affordable price!), fine grain with an ISO of 100, and a true to life colour palette, it really has got a lot to say for itself. Initially designed for warmer climates, this emulsion can withstand high heat and humidity much better than the average colour film, so it’s no surprise that it has become a go-to for many film shooters over summer and in bright conditions.

Despite being a lesser-known Kodak film, we received a great amount of submissions across a huge variety of styles, which made Andy’s job of narrowing down his favourites quite the challenge. This was of course helped by our second annual Big Film Photowalk event too, hosted on 28th June 2025, whereby attendees captured their local city on Pro Image. We can only choose 20 final images, but as noted by Andy: “The quality of all the images was really high… a top-drawer of entries!” This is a free competition, whereby film photographers across the globe are encouraged to enter and share their experiences of shooting the chosen film - winners rewarded with their favourite Kodak films, plus free developing, processing, and a professional print of their selected image, printed by our in-house WonderLab.

Top 5 Images

#1 Ric Steiger-Leeson

Our first place winning image was shot by Ric Steiger-Leeson. When asked what they liked about this photo, they said: “I was walking along the Saône river north of Lyon on a sunny day in May 2025, with my dad’s Canon A1, and the reflections on the water and the colours in the trees were perfect. It felt like an expressionist painting. I saw this boat in the water and knew it would be a good shot, and I’m so happy with the results.”

What does Ric enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? They said: “I’ve been really enjoying shooting Pro Image. It’s affordable but by no means lesser, and I’m finding giving it a little more exposure is great for a painterly pastel look. It was ideal for the view on the river that day.” Congratulations, Ric 👏 You’ve won a year’s supply of Kodak film of your choice, free development and scans, and a copy of your print!

#2 Tom Warne

Our second place image was shot by Tom Warne. When asked what they liked about this photo, they said: “This one shows my daughter sitting on a pier in Croatia on holiday. I love the way the film captured the golden hour colours, and it reminds me of a really awesome trip on which she changed and grew so much.”

What does Tom enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? “Pro Image has fine grain, the skin tones look great and it also deals with low light better than I imagined. Perfect for sunshine and holidays - I’m so happy with my holiday pictures this year.”

#3 Ryan Thomason

Our third place image was shot by Ryan Thomason. When asked what they liked about this photo, they said: “I didn't expect the bottom and top to blow out, but it gave it an extra ethereal kick.” What does Ryan enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? “It captured far more detail than I imagined.”

#4 Monique Dulieu

Our fourth place image was shot by Monique Dulieu. What does Monique enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? “You can’t capture the same photo on anything else, that feel, the quality, the depth.”

#5 Fabio Eugenio Doria

Our fifth place image was shot by Fabio Eugenio dos Santos de Sampaio. When asked what they liked about this photo, they said: “Life has been a bit overwhelming recently and I've found myself dissociating a lot more. This image is a good representation of that as at the start of the image you can barely tell that it is a reflection as it looks just like a regular sky. But as your eyes start heading down the image you can tell that the build starts to become wavy and distorted. When you reach the bottom everything flips as you realise that the image is truly a reflection!”

What does Fabio enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? “I really love how the film renders colours, especially in bright sunlight. The film itself is also very easy to scan and its resistance to hot weather is great for taking it on trips!”

#6 Amy Bond

Our sixth place image was shot by Amy Bond. When asked what they liked about this photo, they said: “I had always wanted to go to Zhangjiajie since finding out that it was James Cameron’s inspiration for Pandora in Avatar and I finally got the chance to go last year whilst I was in China for work. I spent a few days in the park and experienced the mountains in both sunshine and rain, taking photos in both conditions. I love this photo so much because the Hallelujah Mountain really stands out against the mist and fog and backdrop of the other mountains. The tones of the green and the mountain itself just pop. It’s quite possibly my favourite photo I’ve ever taken and I have full intentions of framing a print at some point.”

What does Amy enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? “It was the only film I used whilst in Asia for 5 months last year and the colours it produces are fantastic. I also wasn’t worried about storage whilst in hot humid countries which is a massive bonus and it was relatively purse friendly which is always a bonus.”

#7 Alice Murray

Our seventh place image was shot by Alice Murray. When asked what they liked about this photo, they said: “Taken on Pevensey beach, the little pops of colour from the lichen and the bright blue shoe sitting against the mostly brown surroundings really caught my eye. I really enjoy how detailed the texture of the wood and rusted metal is; you can really see the depth of the wood grain.”

What does Alice enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? “I really enjoy how much fine detail can be captured on Pro Image and how vibrant and true to life the colours are. I have achieved wonderful results on this film in a variety of conditions; whether that's in sunny Cuba or an overcast beach in the UK.”

I love it, it's well framed and despite only having a few seconds conversation, this photo hangs on my wall. If I knew who he was I would send him a print.”

What does Mark enjoy about shooting Kodak Pro Image? “I like it is a fairly versatile film for everyday use, with uniform and balanced colours and an ISO that allows you to get good results during the day and even indoors if you have steady hands. All this for a pretty reasonable price.”
