Detail vs Grain

Haven't shot HP5 in decades. I am not a great fan of dirty grain and HP5 can have a lot of it. I've given it 5 stars because I know it can produce great results. They tell me to persevere. I might also get more satisfying results by developing the film myself in a low grain developer or metering differently to avoid overexposure. HP5 has great tonal range, great contrast and can capture a lot of detail but, for me, this was at a cost of grain. I might give it another go one day but there are plenty of other film stocks to try out before then.

Elevates the everyday

I needed a roll to test out a new camera and so I went about my local area. The shots came back and elevated everything with the gorgeous contrasts and surprisingly fine grain. If you're new to black and white, you can do a lot worse than giving HP5+ a go!

Excellent contrast

Love this film - don't shoot it nearly as much as I should. Super easy to get gorgeous details with little to no editing.
