Halloween Has Arrived at AW: Spooky Stickers, Creepy-Cool Tees & Films for Darker Days

By Oliver Smith

It's Spooky Season here at Analogue Wonderland and we love to sink our teeth into new products, horror designs and of course, the best films fitting for this time of year.

Halloween isn't just for dressing up, in fact it's more of a creative time of year than we consider on face-value. Whether you're carving pumpkins, refreshing your interior design with more autumnal colours (or premium prints) and getting cosy as we head towards Winter, it's the season for creative newness.

So, this season, whether you're shooting, collecting or simply getting into the Halloween spirit - why not consider decorating your film photography kit, wearing your love of analogue photography or grabbing some themed films, we're showcasing new ways to bring a little Halloween magic into your creative life.

A little spooky, a lot of personality: Halloween stickers

Halloween Stickers. From £1.49This season, we have not 1 but 4 limited edition Halloween Stickers for you to get your grubby little claws on!

That's right - 4 designs, thought-up by yours truly and designed by our regular human designer (weirdly that sounds more AI than it needs to) in their wonderful art style. We're taking pop culture to task as we bust ghosts, say "Hi!" to Georgie, paddle near the lake shore and drive conscientiously around fishermen with our cool, new designs!

As always, we will be sending random individual stickers FREE with all orders of film, cameras and accessories while stocks last and the limited edition sticker sheets are available to buy so you can be sure you're getting all of them before they run out.

Want to make sure you get all the limited edition stickers - buy a sticker sheet or why not buy each of the stickers individually.

The nights are drawing in: choosing film for darker days

Cinestill 800t Sample Image

Sample Image from Cinestill 800t 120 Medium Format

Remember Darker Days don't mean putting your camera away. As daylight gets shorter, Halloween offers the perfect excuse to experiment with low-light scenes, dramatic shadows and atmospheric autumn colours.

Enter high-speed film. Your trusty companion for darker days, dimly lit Halloween parties and those wonderfully questionable photos taken after sunset.

With faster films, such as ISO 800 and beyond, you have more flexibility when the light starts to disappear. Think spooky street scenes, candlelit pumpkins, ghostly portraits and that one friend who insists on taking photos in a pub with approximately three photons to work with.

Of course, high-speed film isn't magic. You'll still need to think about your exposure, and some situations will call for a flash or a wider aperture. But with the right film loaded, there's no need to pack your camera away just because summer has left the building.

Our advice? Load a faster roll, embrace the shadows and see what develops. Halloween is the perfect excuse to experiment - and if a few frames turn out a little mysterious, we're calling that artistic direction.

Why Choose This Film?

Portra 800 is a high-speed colour negative film that delivers stunning results in low light situations. With its fine grain and natural skin tones, it's perfect for capturing portraits, weddings, and other events where lighting conditions may be less than ideal.

Why Choose This Film?

Deep contrasting, Black & White for those monochrome winter tones. With its fine grain and high contrast, this film is perfect for capturing moody and atmospheric shots, whether you're shooting indoors or outdoors at night.

Why Choose This Film?

Cinestill 800T has the unique characteristic of being daylight-balanced for tungsten (3200K) light, creating a distinct cinematic look with high contrast and vibrant colours. Perfect for the winter season, especially Christmas!

Three tips for shooting Halloween on film

Film Camera in Autumnal Leaves

Looking to get pumpkin portraits, souped spectres or fancy dress on film? Then here are three tips for shooting Halloween on film this year.

  1. Choose your speed wisely. Faster film, such as ISO 800, can help when light levels fall, although the best choice depends on your camera, lens and available light - so we'd also recommend a light meter if yours is less-than-accurate.
  2. Make the most of available light. Shop windows, streetlights, candles and illuminated pumpkins can create atmospheric scenes. Be mindful that very dim light may still require a flash, a wider aperture or a slower shutter speed.
  3. Embrace the imperfections. It feels counter-intuitive, but motion blur, grain, shadows and unexpected colours can all contribute to the mood of a Halloween photograph. Couple this with some overt halation in your imagery and maybe some alternative framing methods and you'll be shooting interesting compositions throughout Autumn.

Remember if you're pushing or pulling any films or being creative by souping them - be sure to let our lab know when you choose film development so we can make sure we develop your films as you intend them.

Make this Halloween a little more analogue

So whether you're after stickers for your kit, designs for your fit, Mr Negative Films for a touch of mystery, and high-speed film for the darker evenings - you can find everything you need this season at Analogue Wonderland.

Even if you're currently knee-deep in refreshing your interiors for the new season, why not grab some premium prints or posters to add some more personality from all your shots this year?

The beauty of this season and analogue photography is another opportunity to slow down, get creative and make something physical that you can look at with fondness and inspiration for years to come or even enjoy as a learning experience as you learn more while being mindful.
