The perfect night-time emulsion

You only get 12 shots, so luckily Cinestill 800T is very easy to use under the right conditions! I'd like to play around with it a bit more, but have been impressed with my test images.

Fantastic indoors and out

I know you're supposed to use a warming filter with this film, but I didn't, and shot on a bright sunny day in my living room. I'm in love with the results - colours really deep, a very cinematic look and feel to the tone of each picture, and the grain is not too bad at all for 800 ISO.

Yes, this film shines when you're taking pictures of a rainy city street in Hong Kong, but for some high key baby photos I recommend it hands down, especially when there's a splash of colour as well.

I'm excited to try the new 400 ISO version too.

Cinestill 800T

Because of the high sensitivity, this film is very well suited to either use indoors, or at night.
It delivers very vibrant colours and a surprisingly low grain.
The fact that it can be developed directly in C41 chemistry, is a big plus to me. No bother about removing remjet or anything.
I tested the 135 version in daylight as well and found it can even be used for landscape photography.
The slight colour cast can easily be removed in postprocessing.
At the same price as Portra400 it gives you a bit more flexibility at low light conditions, and for that it is now part of my favorite type of colour film.

Fantastic film also great for Daylight

Cinestill 800T is a well known film often used for its low light fantastic 'cinematic' performances. However I used one of the roll I purchased to test it in daylight condition and I was really surprised by the great outcome. Being a tungsten balanced film the color rendering is a bit toward the cold side but I really like this fine colour shift and final outcome (see sample attached). I would definitely recommend this film and looking forward to the 35mm to be back in stock.

Surprisingly Versatile

A surprisingly versatile film that has a nice softness and excellent colour reproduction. I used it for some shots in full daylight in order to finish a roll and it still turned out fantastic. Would recommend this film and looking forward to experimenting with the new 400d.
