Solid performer, a little on the grainy side

Took this film out to the mountains of Scotland, some of the landscapes were a little challenging. They were spectacular, but finding subjects to shoot wasn't particularly easy. The scans from the lab came back fairly contrasty, and I did tweak some of them to produce a more pleasing (to me) result. There is quite a lot of grain apparent on this film and it can show up especially with the standard resolution scans and also the computer resizing. The film does have a really good dynamic range and it easily coped with the sun peeping out from behind a mountain.

HP5 - uses indoors and outdoors

I was provided with a roll of Ilford HP5 to practice my photography skills on an old Pentax P30. I found it to work really well both indoors and outdoors, with it providing really good contrast.

My favourite black and white film

HP5 was the first roll of black and white film I'd had developed and scanned since returning to film. The tones are absolutely wonderful, and the 400 speed is so useful when the weather is less than perfect.

HP5 35mm

A great choice for the winter months and interiors. Very flexible with a bit more grain than FP4 but not overwhelmingly so. Very tolerant of different lighting conditions, I’d definitely recommend HP5.

First time

This was my first time shooting Ilford HP5 and I was expecting a little bit more from it. I expected it to have a nice contrast. However, this was shot on point and shoot Olympus, so next time I will give it a chance on the Leica SLR.
