I’ve shot half a dozen rolls of 50d and it is fast becoming my favourite colour negative film. Hardly any grain, massive latitude (more contrast can be added in post process) and good sharpness add up to a pretty compelling package. For artistic daytime effects you can shoot it at ISO 25 on a tripod with an ND filter.

I found this to have absolutely lovely colours, slightly faded without looking like there's anything wrong, and really enjoyed shooting with it in bright light. You will get some halation (I'd say less than CineStill 800T), and on occasions this looks like lower contrast / lower acutance in those areas.

Really happy with how this film worked out in varied light conditions. Nice textures.

Like the other CineStill film stocks, this one has beautiful colour and an almost grainless appearance. In many respects I think they are all pretty interchangeable. 800T works well in daylight if you follow the guidance and 400D performs very much like this film stock. I'll probably stick to the higher ISOs in future as they offer greater flexibility and a better chance of getting a sharp image. I shot these photos on a sunny autumn day with the sun quite low in the sky. 50 ISO was fine and didn't really cause me any problems but 400 might have given me more options with little difference in image quality--or so it seems to me.

I used this film in low light conditions and the results were surprisingly good despite the large aperture and slow shutter speeds required. Lots of reddish halation in the highlights which gives the photos an interesting look.

Striking colours, the sort of thing you'd get from colour reversal film. Good shadow rendition and colours are bold.

A really lovely film very fine grain almost not noticeable even at 100%. The colour rendition is just stunning a film for daylight and for bright but slightly overcast days. Photographs of the horse were taken on a cloudy but bright day and its yield a lovely warm tone to it. The halation I didn't find an issue in my shooting but I did see it in some of my shots. Not to my taste but I do like the images 800T produces and like the effect in this setting in low light. Overall excellent and I shall be using it again.

Nice soft colours, blues look great.
Skin tones had a yellow undertone that I didn't love, it easily fixed in post but still wouldn't be my first pick for portraits
Halation is there but seems way less pronounced than 800t, but that could be the subject matter more than the film.

it's good to create an effect of slight darkness

Since this is a 50 iso film, I thought it would be wise to shoot the entire roll on the sunny days that we had at the end of March (2025). It turned out to be a wise move. I'm delighted with the colour rendition. Since it comes in 36 frame rolls it is also good value for money. If you haven't tried it already, I would definitely recommend it but be mindful of the 50 iso.

Bland, lifeless, average at best. If you really want a rebranded Kodak motion picture film, but it from a brand that doesn't hate the film community.

i like the low light effect, extra mysterious

Overall, the 50D is a lovely travel film, which is something you want to record in analogue photography.

Lovely desatured looks, especially greens. Not the best choice for cloudy days but definitely great for sunny climates.

Lets put CineStill's shady legal dealings aside and just focus on the reality. that being that this is just Kodak Vision3 50D. You can get this film with or without the remjet layer from so many other places that aren't trying to rip you off on the price. It's a beautiful film with acurate colours and a ton of room for editing, but don't buy it from CineStill.

Nice desaturated colours, probably a little closer to realistic than highly saturated film. Very fine grain. Needs a lot of light (50 ISO) but gives pleasing images.
